Mr Ransford Owusu Boakye, the Eastern Regional Coordinator of the
National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO), on Wednesday picked a form to contest the New Juaben South Parliamentary seat for the National Democratic Congress.

Mr Boakye received a rousing welcome from his supporters and sympathizers when he arrived at the constituency party office at Koforidua to pick his form. Speaking to newsmen, Mr Boakye appealed to his supporters not to misconduct themselves and avoid insults or any acrimony with his competitors.

He said his aim was to propagate the good works of President John Evans Atta Mills to help bring more development to the constituency. Mr Boakye who said he was confident of winning the primary added that Government had brought a lot of development to the constituency and hoped to accelerate the pace of development in the area when given the nod.
He said the constituency seat “does not belong” to the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and would therefore work very hard to win it for the NDC. He called on delegates to vote for him since he is the only capable candidate who can wrestle the seat from the NPP. Mr Boakye said in the 2008 general elections he was able to garner a lot of votes for the party and expressed optimism that he was going to poll more votes to become the winner come 2012. Mr Andrew Asabre Awuku, the constituency chairman, thanked the contestants for showing interest in the party’s primary.

He recalled that the situation was not the same in 2008 where the party had to contest the seat at the last hour. Mr Boakye is contesting the seat with three others namely, Mr Kwabena Okyere Kusi, Dr Kwaku Owusu-Acheampong and Mr Kwaku Asamoah.
