President John Dramani Mahama said Ghana has always been an advocate of self-determination and freedom and would be ready to lend support to groups of people seeking independence and freedom.

We also believe that it is only a two-state solution between Palestine and Israel that can help solve the long time misunderstanding between you.

Vice President Mahama said this when Riyad Al- Malik, Palestinian Foreign Minister called on him at the Jubilee Lounge at the Kotoka International Airport, Accra.

The foreign Minister is in the country to strengthen diplomatic relations with Ghana and to thank the government for the continuous contribution of troops to Palestine to solve the Middle East crisis.
Vice President Mahama said Ghana had had useful political and economic relations with Palestine and would continue to support them to earn peace and development in subsequent years.

Mr Al-Malik commended Ghana for her continuous support adding, over 124 countries had so far recognized them and hoped that Palestine would be admitted to the United Nations at the global bodys conference slated for September this year.

He appealed to the government of Ghana to support them in their struggle to attain the status of statehood and pledged to deepen relations with Ghana in all sectors of development.

The Foreign Minister said Palestinians have endured 40 years of Israeli occupation, they would continue to use formal means to attain their independence.
