A member of the Communications Team of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Felix Kwakye-Ofosu, has posited that the show of latent anger by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) is because they have a culture of entitlement so draped around them that they feel they are the only ones predestined to rule over Ghanaians.
According to him, the NPP believes that nobody but their party has the clout to lead the country that is why they are so uncomfortable with the fact that the NDC is the governing party.
Felix Kwakye-Ofosu was commenting on the infamous win at all cost remark by the 2012 presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo.
The NPP flagbearer, at a recent meeting with students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) branch of the NPP, is reported to have said that the NPP is the only party in the country that can make the much desired transformation a reality, and urged the students to ensure that he is elected president in 2012 at all cost.
He added that the world has no time for visionless and unimaginative leaders and needs leaders who can think and act big to bring development in a country, hence his plea to be elected as president.
But speaking as a panelist on Radio Golds Alhaji and Alhaji programme, the Oil and Gas Analyst opined that the NPP acts as if they are the only ones who have been ordained to lead the country and Nana also believes very much in this kind of politicking. For that reason they still did not believe that the people of Ghana chose not to vote for them and that has led to the build-up of the latent anger and that is why they use this kind of insulting language. It is not from nothing; it comes from a latent anger... that is why he has been making statements like that.
Whiles downplaying comments by the NPP flagbearer that he will be able to transform Ghana into a first world country within a period of four years, which he described as bragging, the NDC Communications Team member urged Ghanaians not to give due regard to the promises made by Nana Addo, stressing that they will remain wet dreams.
He also accused the opposition party of setting up a grand agenda to create mayhem as evidenced by their recent incendiary utterances.
Instead of doing the things serious politicians do to win power they choose otherwise because they think they are pre-ordained, so if fair means will not work for them, they will use violence. They chose a path of threatening Ghanaians to vote for them; misplaced agendathere is a grand agenda to create mayhem by the NPP but they forget that there are people who will not agree with them. I reject such kind of politicsthey can go ahead to kill themselves but we the NDC will not kill ourselves. When he stand at KNUST and promises all kinds of things, one must know that he does have what it takes to fulfill those promisesit is bragging... they seems to be confusing wet dreams and vision, he added.
