The Leadership of the Progressive People�s Party (PPP), has from Friday, 3rd January 2012, opened nominations for the election of Presidential and Parliamentary candidates.
This decision has become necessary after receiving provisional certificate from the electoral commission to organize the party into a fully-fledged political party.
All interested party members who are eligible to contest and fulfill all requirements shall pick up nomination forms from the National and Regional offices of the PPP across the country. All Presidential aspirants will be expected to pay a non-refundable filing fee of Ghc25,000.00 after obtaining the nomination form at a cost of Ghc500. Parliamentary aspirants are to purchase the nomination form from the Regional Secretariat of the party at a cost of Ghc100.00 and pay a non-refundable fee of Ghc1,000.00 upon submission.
Meanwhile, the PPP wants to assure all Ghanaians that it will use positive discrimination to encourage more women to participate in the 2012 parliamentary elections to attain the PPP�s 30 per cent quota for women.
In this regard, all female aspirants below the age of 35 years would be required to pay a non-refundable filing fee of Ghc500.00.
