Editor of the Daily Post newspaper, Mike Dokosi, has called the bluff of former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Martin A.B.K Amidu by daring him to expose President John Evans Atta Mills misconduct and anyone else implicated in the controversial Alfred Woyome judgement debt saga.
The former A-G, who was fired for misconduct at a cabinet meeting in January this year, on Wednesday, threatened to expose what he says is President Mills misconduct in the Woyome saga if he pushed to the wall.
Government officials had told the media following his dismissal that he (Amidu) failed to name colleague cabinet ministers he claimed were involved in the Woyome saga.
But in a press statement issued on 30th May explaining why he is not using government or party channels to address accountability and transparency issues in the country, Mr Amidu said the facts surrounding his dismissal have been distorted. He denied allegations that he did not name the cabinet ministers involved in what he had early on described as gargantuan money paid to Alfred Woyome.
The former A-G pointed out that he is ethically constrained to reveal secrets behind the 51 million judgement saga, but warned that if government functionaries pushed him to the wall by maligning him, he will have no option but to come out and clear his name and dared the Chief of Staff to publish the misconduct.
It, therefore, came as no surprise to me when the Chief of Staff who was part of the meeting of 13th January 2012 hypocritically issued a press statement to the effect that I had misconducted myself as a Minister. I accordingly sent him a reply on 20th January 2012 and dared him to publish my reply to him and my letter of 6th January 2012 to the public. He has cowardly refused to make any of them public, Mr Amidu said.
Asked to reveal what he knows to be the truth in the Woyome saga, the former A-G replied: I wont do that. Until they deny itOr if they try to say something that brings by integrity into disrepute then that one there will be no ethics. But now ethically I am confined to not talking about it. Indeed I may have to hold it until I die, unless they put me into a situation in which I may I have to tell my wife to get these things out.
However, Mr Dokosi, whose newspaper and several other pro-government newspapers the Informer; the National Democrat; the Ghanaian Lens were tagged by Mr Amidu as partisan and rented NDC press described Mr Amidus threat as an empty bluff and dared him to spill the beans.
To him, the former A-G is a habitual liar and stressed that there was certainly nothing Mr. Amidu can expose about President Mills considering the fact that he (Amidu) has been consistently spewing lies about the president ever since he was given the sack.
We are calling his bluff and saying that we are going to expose him rather. If there is anything he thinks he can expose about the president, he should go ahead. If there is anything he thinks he can expose about the president, he should go ahead, he said.
Speaking to Radio Gold in an interview, Mr Dokosi disclosed that he is privy to information that the former A-G has been living a life of sleaze and has been receiving bribes.
Here is this man saying that the president was begging him not to resign. If you could recall when he issued one of his gargantuan statements he stated that it was rather the president who begged him not to resign. Can you imagine this?...He has been living a double life and we know that Mr. Martin Amidu has been lying to Ghanaians all this while you have a whole attorney general who is supposed to speak the truth lying to Ghanaians shamelessly....Everything he has said so far are gargantuan lies and that is why we are daring him to speak out because there is nothing for him to say. He is living a double life of corruption and has been taking bribes, he said.
The newspaper editor who vowed to literally stripped Mr. Amidu naked in the coming days with empirical evidence for Ghanaians to know what character the former A-G really is, said prior to his dismissal as A-G, he (Dokosi) had already planned to expose him adding that it was by divine providence that he (Amidu) was fired before the revelations were made.
