Peacefmonline.com can confirm that President John Evans Atta Mills will not participate in the upcoming presidential debate being organized by the Institute of Economic Affairs (IEA).
The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) party says its vice presidential candidate, John Dramani Mahama, will also not take part in the encounter scheduled between the major political parties ahead of the December elections.
A statement issued by the Propaganda Secretary of the ruling party, Richard Quashigah, said the National Democratic Congress (NDC) wishes to reaffirm its decision not to participate in this years Presidential and Vice Presidential debate which are being sponsored by the Institute of Economic Affairs, IEA.
The NDC government has previously drawn the IEAs attention to the fact that no sitting president or vice president in the 4th Republic has participated in these debates. It is the partys position to uphold that convention.
The NDC wishes the IEA well and will continue to collaborate with it in other matters of mutual interest, the statement concluded.
