An alleged diabolical plan hatched by activists of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ellembelle Constituency of the Western Region to purportedly foil a visit by Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to the area, has been exposed.

Nana Akufo-Addo is billed to visit the Western Region on Thursday, July 19, 2012 for a weeks listening tour and will visit the Ellembelle Constituency on Sunday, July 22 but access to the area is going to be hindered with closure of two major roads.

DAILY GUIDE gathered that hundreds of NPP supporters in the Ellembelle area who had got wind of Nana Addos visit were gearing themselves up to give the partys flagbearer and his entourage a rousing welcome when they got to the constituency of the first president of Ghana, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

However, impeccable information reaching DAILY GUIDE indicated that some kingpins of the NDC in the Ellembelle Constituency were leaving no stone unturned to frustrate Nana Addos visit to the area.

A reliable source at Ellembelle told the paper that as part of the machinations by the NDC activists to disrupt Nana Akufo-Addos visit to the area, activists of the ruling party had caused announcements to be made on radio stations and through the areas public address systems that there would be a two-week maintenance work on two bridges on the main access roads to the area.

However, the Department of Feeder Roads said it knew nothing about the closure of the roads.

According to the source, the announcements indicated that the two-week maintenance work would be carried out on the bridge spanning River Amanzule on the Senzule-Eikwe Krisan main road and the one spanning River Subile on the Esiama-Nkroful road.

The alleged maintenance work on the two bridges, according to the source, would mean that Nana Akufo-Addo and his entourage would not be able to successfully tour the Ellembelle Constituency because the access roads to the area, particularly Eikwe and Nkroful, would be closed for the said maintenance works to take place.

Kofi Amissah, a resident of Esiama, who confirmed hearing the announcements, alleged that the Member of Parliament for Ellembelle, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah, ordered the announcements to be made.

Meanwhile, checks by DAILY GUIDE at the regional offices of the Department of Feeder Roads in Takoradi revealed that there was no plan for any maintenance work on the two bridges as had been alleged.

Kweku Akosah-Koduah, regional manager of the Department of Feeder Roads, disclosed that his outfit had no plan of carrying out any maintenance work on the two bridges and that the assertion was untrue.
