The Presidential Spokesperson, John Jinapor has downplayed the Progressive People’s Party’s (PPP) allegations that the government is using state resources to influence the huge crowd that has been thronging the President’s ‘Thank you tour.’

The PPP has accused President John Mahama of abuse of incumbency in his nationwide ‘Thank you tour.’ The party alleged that the NDC government was distributing money to Chiefs and Traditional leaders to attend the durbars in honour of the President.

They also accused the party of busing people to attend the durbars.

John Jinapor however told Citi News, PPP’s allegations are untrue saying, “everywhere we went, even the places where we went unannounced, the thousands and multitudes of people who came out welcome him is beyond imagination.”

“The thing is that when you have a good product, it is much easier to market that product. President Mahama is liked by the people of Ghana and so wherever we go, people want to show appreciation, people want to show support. And so if that is what the PPP misconstrue as abuse of incumbency, then I am sorry, that is not incumbency abuse”, he explained.
