The ruling National Democratic Congress(NDC) says the party has unearthed plans by some mischief makers to cause mayhem at its Special Delegates Congress scheduled to take place at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Thursday .

NDC General Secretary, Johnson Asiedu Nketia, warned that the NDC will deal ruthlessly with any such miscreants.

The NDC is expected to endorse President John Dramani Mahama at the Special Delegates Congress which is on the theme: “Advancing A Better Ghana Agenda; Working For You”.

Addressing a press conference ahead of Thursday’s congress, General Mosquito as the NDC General Secretary is affectionately called, told the media that the party's intelligence network picked reports that some unknown persons are planning to infiltrate the congress grounds.

The objective of these hooligans, he said, is ostensibly to cause confusion that would portray the NDC as a violent party.

According to him, it is in light of the intercepted reports that the NDC has reinforced security at the Baya Yara Sports Stadium warning that such hoodlums will be dealt with appropriately should they carry on with their intentions.

The NDC Chief Scribe also cautioned radio stations intending to cover the Special Delegates Congress live to be circumspect in their reportage as the party will not countenance any embellishment and falsehood.

Some 2,000 NDC delegates are expected to endorse President John Mahama as the party's flagbearer. If he is endorsed by more than 50% of the delegates present, he will automatically become the NDC’s flag bearer.
