National Propaganda Secretary of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC), Richard Quashigah says he is not surprise by the attempt to scoff at accomplishments of the late President, Prof J.E.A Mills by disgruntled NDC Member of Parliament for Lower Manya Krobo, Hon. Michael Teye Nyaunu.

Richard Quashigah posits that it will only take someone who is cocooned in his own world to assert that the late President failed to live up to expectation as leader of the ruling party and President of the country.

The NDC MP reportedly marked President Mills 35% over 100, accusing the late president of failing to deal with corruption in his administration.

According to him, the ruling party has achieved nothing meaningful over the last three-and-half years, and thus undeserving of a second term come the December elections.

Speaking to Citi News in an interview, the NDC Lower Manya Krobo MP, affectionately called MTN, questioned why the NDC seems bent on presenting President Mills as a saint, adding that it is only gullible people who will fall for such political gimmicks.

But Richard Quashigah opines that oftentimes, MTN's argument does not resonate with reality. Speaking on the Eyewitness News platform, Richard Quashigah said there is no way a government can claim to have achieved a 100% success rate since there will always be challenges, naturally, with human institutions.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Teye Nyaunu is saying all that. What he is saying is his own opinion and it doesn’t surprise me at all. He is an ardent critic of late President Mills and of his own party; I don’t know which measurement he used to come to such conclusions...He is only criticizing for the fun of it. If the government has performed or not, it is up to the people of Ghana to determine it...Often times his argument does not resonate with the reality…the reality as far as I am concerned is that the NDC led government under late President Mills and President Mahama has done so well. There are obviously challenges but that is natural...You set yourself target but it does not mean that you achieve 100%...,” Richard Quashigah.
