The President of NAGRAT, Christian Addae-Poku has asked teachers to clearly scrutinize the manifestoes of political parties before giving any of them the nod.

His comments come as education has taken the centre stage of campaigning by political parties for this year's election.

Speaking to Radio Ghana, Mr Addae Poku said teachers hold the key to the country's development.

On the issue of whether any party has succeeded in coming close to what teachers really want, Mr Addae Poku said all what the political parties are saying are promises which have not been converted to policies yet.

Mr Addae Poku also touched on Teachers salaries describing it as one of the promises politicians do not keep.

Meanwhile, the Executive Director of Policy Think Tank IMANI Ghana, Franklin Cudjoe, has lauded political parties for making education a priority in their campaign messages.

He said it is an indication that politicians now have respect for the masses.

Mr Cudjoe also noted that teachers are lauded any time educational policy is mentioned, but there is a need for them to sacrifice a bit more for the country even though they may have legitimate claims.
