Martin Anane, a 28-year-old man, has been arrested by the police at Gravel Yard near Sambreboi in the Western Region for possessing 12 biometric voter identity cards bearing various names.

The suspect is in police custody pending further investigations.

The names on the ID cards were Azure Ibrahim, Paul Donkor, Dibora Anane, Yaw Borga, Stephen Donkor, Grace Akosua, Sima Ampedu Augustina, Sie Kwadwo, Anthony Akua, Florence Adwoa Sofaya and Job Fordwor.

One Gabriel Obeng Efa, also of Gravel Yard, who first saw Martin Anane with the voter identity cards, demanded to know how the latter got the cards, resulting in a fight. Gabriel overpowered Martin and collected 11 of the ID cards from him.
Gabriel lodged a complaint with the police and handed over the 11 cards to them. The police then went to the suspect’s room and were able to retrieve one additional ID card.

A police source at the Western Regional Police Command in Sekondi confirmed the story and added that Anane would be processed for court after investigations.
