Hajia Rhamatu Mahama, widow of Ghana�s former Vice President, Aliu Mahama, broke down and wept uncontrollably at Sunday�s state funeral for her late husband who passed on to glory last Friday.
Television cameras showed Hajia Rhamatu being consoled as she wept by the coffin carrying her husband�s mortal remains at the Independence Square in Accra, moments before he was flown to Tamale for interment.

Millions of Ghanaians watched the funeral service on live television as political and religious leaders as well as members of the diplomatic community thronged the funeral grounds.
Alhaji Aliu Mahama served as Ghana�s Vice President from January 7, 2001 to January 7, 2009 under the John Kufour Government.
He died at age 66 after a short illness.
