The Supreme Court is hearing the National Democratic Congress, NDC, application to join President John Mahama and EC in the petition against the two by three personalities of the New Patriotic Party, NPP.

Presenting the motion, the lead counsel for the NDC, Tsatsu Tsikata prayed the Supreme Court to allow the party to join as a respondent to the election petition filed by three personalities of the New Patriotic Party, NPP.

The lead counsel for the NDC, Tsatsu Tsikata said this is because President John Mahama was not an Independent Candidate, but did contest on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress, NDC, for which reason the party must be allowed to join the case.

The three personalities of the NPP, challenging the validity of the results of the 2012 elections are Nana Akufo-Addo, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.

The NDC is seeking to join the respondents who have been named in the petition, namely the president, John Mahama and the Electoral Commission chaired by Dr. Kwadwo Afari Gyan.
