Presidential candidate of the Ghana Freedom Party, Madam Akua Donkor, has issued a stern warning to functionaries of the Progressive People's Party (PPP) not to dare challenge her legitimacy of ownership of a Tundra vehicle delivered to her by Founder and Presidential candidate of the Progressive People's Party, Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.
Madam Akua Donkor says the Toyota Tundra vehicle with registration number GC 3706 12, has become her bonafide asset since she has successfully fulfilled her promise to Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom.
The said vehicle has sparked a row between Madam Donkor and the party as she has publicly vowed not to return it to the owners, claiming it had been given out to her as gift.
Prior to the 2012 elections, Madam Akua Donkor, who vehemently expressed interest in contesting the Presidential slot, bowed out after she was refused entry into the race by the Electoral Commission (EC).
She failed to produce all the necessary documents to register her name on the ballot sheet.
After her unsuccessful feat in the Presidential contest, the PPP under the auspices of Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom, enlisted her support and therefore gave her a sleek Tundra vehicle to cruise around town, canvassing for votes for the party.
She was tasked to rally support for Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom from Kumasi in the Ashanti Region where she resides.
Though it is difficult to determine whether Madam Akua Donkor did as told her or not, it appears the long unsettled bout between her and Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom may not go away soon.
He has since last year requested the return of all official party vehicles including the Tundra which was handed over to Madam Akua Donkor but this move has been hindered.
Madam Akua Donkor has incessantly flouted the order enjoining her to return the vehicle.
In an interview with Okay FM, the GFP Flagbearer sworn never to give back the vehicle since according to her it was given as a token of appreciation for her good job done.
She categorically stated that she would "shoot" anyone including the PPP flagbearer if they dare to seize the vehicle from her.
"...the Tundra was given to me on the basis that i gain the trust and support of the masses in Kumasi for the PPP; something I successfully accomplished...i've done my bit to deserve the vehicle and therefore no amount of coercion can make me relinquish it...i will shoot anybody; including Nduom if they attempt to seize it from me...," she swore.
A clearly incensed Akua Donkor described the PP flabearer as a thief and accused him of conniving with the Presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo, to spew lies about the outcome of the elections in order to destabilize the nation.
When asked the veracity of her claims, Madam Akua Donkor said "Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom met with Nana Addo to devise a way to gall President John Dramani Mahama and to seek ways of overturning his legitimacy as President".
She added that the two Presidential candidates, after the meeting, decided to bring charges of electoral fraud against President John Mahama and the Electoral Commission in order to advance their plans to ensure that President Mahama steps down.
"I was contacted to join the bandwagon, but i declined their offer...this, i believe, has informed the decision by Dr. Paa Kwesi Nduom to retrieve the vehicle from me," she claimed.
"But i've sworn heaven and earth never to return the vehicle even if it demands confrontations...i will rather let my "licensed" gun talk for me than humbly deliver the vehicle back to the party.
"if any member of the party confronts me for the vehicle, i wouldn't hesitate to invoke the curse of the gods on that person," she spat out.
Meanwhile, the PPP has initiated court moves to recover its Toyota Tundra vehicle from the GFP leader.
The party has filed an application at the Kumasi Circuit Court 3 presided over by Mr Justice D.W.P. Amedior. They are praying the court to compel Akua Donkor to return the said vehicle.
Mr Oheneba Kuffuor, a Kumasi-based lawyer, is representing the plaintiff.
