Suspended General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Kofi Adams is still fuming over treatment being meted out to him by the ruling party.

Speaking to Rashida Nasamu Monday on Awake, the visibly disturbed spokesperson of the Rawlingses said he is not ready to give up on the party he has worked for over a long period of time though his parliamentary ambition has been curtailed.

“I will not give comfort to those who want me to exit the party. This is a party I have worked to nurture so much. They have done so many things, but I will never get myself out of this party. I will remain in the party,” he said.

The National Executive Committee of the NDC suspended Mr.Adams in 2012 over a leaked tape which is believed to have him saying he will do everything in his power to prevent the then President, John Attah Mills from being re-elected.

Mr. Adams has therefore being disqualified from contesting an impending February 26 by-election on the ticket of the party.

Mr. Adams on Awake however mentioned that he has served the ninety day suspension period and should therefore be given the privileges of being a member of the party.

“I have letters that were signed by Mr. Johnson Asiedu Nketia himself.

“One was the one that was supposed to have been suspending me for ninety days; suspension which was supposed to have ended on the 20th of June (2012) to enable the committee to go into the matter which they were supposed to investigate.”

The General Secretary of the NDC, Asiedu Nketia, has stated in earlier submissions that Kofi Adams could not be allowed to contest the February 26 by-election because he has not been reinstated as a member of the party.

Mr. Adams however in his exchanges with Rashida Nasamu stated that there has never been a meeting indicating this point.

“The Executives of the party have not met to extend the suspension so I will be surprised if the General Secretary of the party thought I should still be on suspension.

“Then he should have convened a meeting to approve that and for the party to communicate it to me. That is why I said that the party is not run on his head. You run the party with the constitution.”

Insisting that he is still “an NDC member,” he stated that he is “surprised that many months down the line when an opportunity has come up and I put myself up, you will have the General Secretary come to say things that don’t really exist and put out falsehood.”

Though not happy with the current wave, he confirmed that he still appreciates the binding laws of the party that says that until he is reinstated, he can’t ride on the wings of the party to contest a parliamentary seat.

“Of course, that is how it should be. That is why I said that I respect the laws of the party but I disagree them. I respect the decision but I disagree with it.”

Primaries for Buem Constituency has been held with a 44 year old marketer, Daniel Kwesi Ashiamah being elected to contest the seat.

The Buem by-election will be held on February 26.
