National Youth Organiser of the Convention Peoples Party (CPP) and a convener of Let My Vote Count, James Kwabena Bonfeh, also known as Kabila, have slammed the Mahama led administration, accusing them of being insensitive to the plights of Ghanaians.
He alluded to the fact that government officials as well ministers use the tax payers money instead of their own to pay for their fuel; as a result they dont know how it feels like when fuel prices are increased.
Kabilah was speaking to the latest fuel increase that took effect on Sunday 17th February 2013.
The National Petroleum Authority issued a statement indicating a 20 percent upward adjustment to fuel prices which have resulted in the increment in transportation fares.
You are killing the poor yet you tell them you are having their interest at heart; at this point in time? It is the highest level of insensitivity any government can exhibit. There is no reason for the incrementas for me I feel we are wasting our money with paying the salaries of Presidents and his ministers; they are destroying the nation; they dont even think of what will happen to Ghanaians, Kabilah said.
Speaking in an interview on Peace FMs Kokrokoo, Minister for Energy and Petroleum said it was not good for politicians to politicize the issue of petroleum increase because it occurs in every political era.
Speaking as a panelist on the same programme, Kabila opined that the issue of petroleum prices cannot be separated from politics. The upward adjustment of Petroleum, affects school fees, water, rent, fares, market prices and so nobody should make a mistake and think that the issue of petrol is not politicalLet our leaders do better and let them rethink to reposition Ghana
