The controversy surrounding Mr. Kwame Pianim’s comment about the conduct of NPP elders post the 2012 presidential electoral defeat seems far from dying down soon; as Mr. Kwabena Agyapong has warned him to stay off the path of the New Patriotic Party in their course to save Ghana from rotting.

Mr. Agyepong, hinted that though he continues to venerate Mr. Pianim, his latest criticisms on the leaders of the party was farfetched and didn’t sync with the party’s agenda to pursue the results of the election in court.

According to the former press secretary for ex-president Kufuor, allowing the NDC to get away with the ‘fraudulent’ mechanisms they setup during the 2012 elections, is equivalent to allowing “impudence to rule in Ghana”.

“We won’t sit down and allow impudence to rule in this nation where we are all aware of the strategies certain people used in changing electoral,” Mr. Agyapong said.

Mr. Kwame Pianim, is on record to have told the Africawatch magazine that the Presidential candidate of the NPP, Nana Akufo-Addo and members of the party, should have had the courage to confront defeat because “it is good for democracy and the nation”.

In his view, the party is heading in the wrong direction and “until the Supreme Court reverses the declared results of the 2012 elections, all Ghanaians, including NPP members, must fully recognize President Mahama as the legitimate Head of State of the republic and Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces”.

Speaking on Okay FM, Mr. Agyapong beckoned Mr. Pianim that pursing the aftermath of the electoral results at the Supreme Court is a useful exercise to seal the pores of division in the country.

“If any investor wants to come and do business in the country, they would hedge a bit because of our current situation. So we plead with the judges to work within time and come out with the final solution to encourage both the NDC and NPP,” he said.

Mr. Agyapong called on Mr. Pianim to be patriotic and work towards building a Ghana with a strong electoral institution.
