The youth wing of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), the Young Patriots is wondering how the Mahama-led NDC administration can be expected to fix the problems confronting the nation when the Presidency appears to be so confused about the name of the location of its centre of authority to govern.
The group strongly believes President John Dramani Mahamas state of mind can aptly be described as confused , claiming this has manifested in several ways including his (presidents) reaction to the energy crisis, the confusion between his various statements on the state of the nation, his embarrassing reassignment of his ministers.
Their assertions comes at the back of what appeared to be an official gaffe regarding the supposed change of name of the seat of Government, the Flag Staff House.
The state of mind of the President can aptly be described as confused. Lately, this has manifested in several ways including his reaction to the energy crisis, the confusion between his various statements on the state of the nation, his embarrassing reassignment of his ministers,Even the fact that the President has been harassed by foot soldiers to do specific appointments to suit them confirms the Presidents own admission in his book that his mind is constantly plague with indecision" the Young Patriots said in a statement signed by its Chairman, Richard Nyamah.
The pro-NPP group also wants the immediate dismissal of Information and Media Affairs Minister, Mahama Ayariga, saying "his continuous misinformation of the Ghanaian people cannot be further countenanced".
Though Mr. Ayariga has admitted to erring, regarding an interview PeaceFM he granted over the supposed change of name of the seat of government and taking full responsibility for the blunder, the group seemed not moved.
He justified their call for the dismissal of the Bawku Central MP by making reference to the Andrew Solomon saga as well as his (Ayarigas) bluff that government had not overspent its 2012 budget.
"For Mr Ayariga, the least said the betterMr Ayariga just a few weeks ago denied President Mahama has any links and has ever known Mrs Andrew Solomon, the renowned gay right activist and close friend of President Mahama. Last week Mr Ayariga denied the Presidency over spent its budget by some GHC 600m but as we speak, he is yet to fulfill his own promise to produce the real figures...But beyond Ayarigas incompetence, is the double speak of the government and attempt to whitewash this mess. How on earth does Mr Stan Dogbe tell Ghanaians that Jubilee Flag-staff House is a typographical error? If with all the prove readers at the Presidency Jubilee added to Flag-staff House could not be spotted, then why do we pay them?", the statement read.
Below is the full statement....
JUBILEE FLAG STAFF HOUSE: AYARIGA IS INCOMPETENT AND PRESIDENT MAHAMA CONFUSED
Names have meaning and bearing on the bearer of the name. A name may depict a history, an ambition, character, religious view point and in some cases no meaning at all. Both Flag-staff House and Jubilee House on their own make a lot of sense.
Jubilee Flag-staff House is not only meaningless but dump. Makes absolutely no sense and makes me wonder why anyone will dream of such a name in the first place if not the propaganda value of it, which unfortunately has backfired.
Down memory lane, the NDC made the point that Jubilee House was not properly tabled and named and was therefore unrecognized and illegal. As to whether Flag-staff house went through the required procedure we were not told. However, Jubilee Flag-staff house, i can confidently say, has not gone through that procedure and cannot be said to be such.
The state of mind of the President can aptly be described as confused. Lately, this has manifested in several ways including his reaction to the energy crisis, the confusion between his various statements on the state of the nation, his embarrassing reassignment of his ministers, which mind you has not happened once, twice but three times. Even the fact that the President has been harassed by foot soldiers to do specific appointments to suit them confirms the Presidents own admission in his book that his mind is constantly plague with indecision.
For a country that the President has declared broke, it is a sign of the worse to come and after this admission, the President was in a meeting with donor partners complaining about the problems instead of fixing them. Ghana is in a state of confusion.
For Mr Ayariga, the least said the better. His incompetence dates back to his first term as MP when he amassed tractors belonging to ordinary farmers for himself but has failed to produce anything with these tractors for his constituents to benefit.
Mr Ayariga just a few weeks ago denied President Mahama has any links and has ever known Mrs Andrew Solomon, the renowned gay right activist and close friend of President Mahama. Last week Mr Ayariga denied the Presidency over spent its budget by some GHC 600m but as we speak, he is yet to fulfill his own promise to produce the real figures.
But beyond Ayarigas incompetence, is the double speak of the government and attempt to whitewash this mess. How on earth does Mr Stan Dogbe tell Ghanaians that Jubilee Flag-staff House is a typographical error? If with all the prove readers at the Presidency Jubilee added to Flag-staff House could not be spotted, then why do we pay them?
If the Presidency is confused about its own name, one can imagine how confused they are about fixing their mess. For Mr Ayariga, we suggest the earlier he is dismissed the better for us all. His continuous misinformation of the Ghanaian people cannot be further countenanced.
