President John Mahama says he did nothing wrong in the 2012 presidential elections and has expressed optimism that the verdict will vindicate him.
I have said that I believe that the truth is on my side and that we didnt do anything to influence that election, Mr. Mahama said on Wednesday when he paid a courtesy call on national chief Imam Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu in Accra.
The Supreme Court is expected to pronounce its final verdict on the election petition case on August 29, 2013.
The Court, on Wednesday August 7 heard the oral addresses of the lead counsel of the petitioners and respondents.
President Mahama, who is the first respondent in the case, also reiterated his readiness to accept whatever verdict is pronounced by the nine-member panel.
We will accept the verdict, we must accept the verdict, we have no other option but to accept the verdict, he stressed.
He noted that: We must accept the verdict because thats the Supreme Court of Ghana and the Constitution gives it the authority to adjudicate as the final arbiter on matters like this and when it pronounces we must accept.
