There was an open display of power when the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur allegedly threatened to cause the arrest of her deputy, Ms Rachel Florence Appoh, and Director of Social Welfare, Christian Babooroh for rescuing a baby from her mentally unstable mother.

The issue went viral and sparked public controversy when it later emerged that Nana Oye Lithur had a very poor working relationship with people who worked under her.

Although Ms. Appoh granted several interviews and denied any rift between them, people close to them have issued subliminal statements to hint that there is an issue to be addressed.

A statement by the Communications Advisor to the Ministry, Mercy Adjabeng, portrayed Rachel Florence Appoh, as ignorant of the work of the Ministry.

But this was countered as sympathizers of the deputy minister have also issued a statement informing President Mahama to call Nana Oye Lithur to order.

Below is the attached statement released by the Gomoa Central Constituency
