The Deputy Minister in charge of Tertiary Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa has described President Mahama’s 2014 State of Nation Address as “the most rousing motivational and inspirational speech that the country has ever heard from a Ghanaian President.”

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, he further stated that “I won’t say that our political leaders were out of touch, it’s just that what happened in the house with all the heckling and the reaction is what is being blown out of proportion.”|

The President has been criticized for his composure during the address while some Ghanaians have described the heckling by Members of Parliament as disrespectful.

The MPs heckled the president while the President among other things, used the popular phrase “tweaa” while delivering his address on Tuesday.

His conduct has attracted various criticisms with some questioning his competence.

Mr. Okudzeto said the president was informal because the speech was 2 hours and it related to everyday life and people he had met.

The Deputy Minister also explained how government intends to implement the Free Senior High School Policy.

According to him, it is mandatory for the necessary educational infrastructure to be in place before such a policy is rolled out.
