The District Chief Executive of the Ayensuano District, Hon. Mark Ofori Darko speaking at the 57th independence anniversary parade has said it is time to instill a sense of patriotism into our children before they grow.
According to him there is the need for all stakeholders in our society, teachers and everyone responsible to teach our children the values of patriotism and instill in them the sense of nationalism so they grow to help develop the nation into a better one for us all.
Speaking on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, he said that the country has made a significant progress in its 57 years of independence though it has been very challenging.
�The journey has not been easy, there have been obstacles, setbacks, mistakes and shot comings but we have indeed made some progress,� he said at the parade ceremony.
He used the opportunity to call on all Ghanaians to be more patriotic and nationalistic especially the new generation and the youth, as the theme for the anniversary depicts; �Building a better and prosperous Ghana through patriotism and national unity�.
Finally, he outlined the measures put in place by government to make education more affordable, effective and attractive to all, as the bed rock of every nation is education.
He also advised and called on all parents not to desist from playing their rightful role and be responsible for educating their wards, since it is the major priority.
Other dignitaries present were the District Director of Education, Commanders in-Charge of the various security services in the district and heads of the various schools present among others.
16 basic schools and only one Senior High School paraded at the Kraboa Coaltar Presbyterian Senior High Technical School at Coaltar in the Eastern Region to mark the 57th independence anniversary of Ghana.
Though heavy rains interrupted the parade, the anniversary was marked successful.
The theme for this year�s ceremony was; �Building a better and prosperous Ghana through patriotism and national unity�.
