A member of the Paul Afoko campaign team, Boniface Abubakar Saddique, is confident his candidate will be crowned Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the party's delegate congress in the Northern regional capital, Tamale, on April 12.

According to him, Paul Afoko is ordained to redeem the NPP from the shackles of opposition and recapture power from the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2016 general elections.

The former Minister of Manpower, Works and Housing under the erstwhile Kufuor administration was commenting on the chances of Paul Afoko on Asempa FMs Ekosii Sen programme Tuesday.

The fate of the aspiring National Chairman hangs in the balance as he is yet to be cleared on allegations that he [Afoko] is an ex-convict.

An anonymous person petitioned the NPPs Vetting Committee demanding Mr. Afoko be disqualified because he once served a jail term in the United Kingdom an allegation he has vehemently denied.

Though the committee has asked Paul Afoko to continue with his campaign pending investigations, some supporters suspect foul play.

But Abubakar Boniface Saddique stated unequivocally that, only God can stop Afoko from becoming NPP National Chairman.

He further intimated that the whole petition saga is a fiasco and a ploy by Paul Afokos detractors to get him off the race after failing to match up to his vision and competence boot-for-boot.

The former Minister indicated that Paul Afoko has earned his position in the party by merit and therefore attempts to cut-short his dream of chairing the NPP on unmeritorious grounds, frustrates the efforts of northerners in the party.

Boniface Saddique said in spite of the frustrations, Paul Afoko remains focused on his new plan for victory for the party in 2016.

No one becomes a king on a silver platter, so Paul Afoko has the stamina; what is happening gives him more courage to forge ahead, he intimated.

He said the campaign team remains resolute because we know the delegates will vote massively for Paul Afoko.
