THE ASPIRATION of Mr. Fred Oware to lead the national chairmanship position of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming Congress of the party has received a last minute boost, following separate endorsements from two young influential personalities in the party.
A former National Youth Organizer and a Member of the National Council of Elders have openly expressed their support for Mr. Fred Oware, describing him as the perfect man to steer the partys chairmanship post.
Messrs. Anthony Karbo and Eugene Antwi, in separate telephone interviews, paid glowing tributes to Mr. Oware for his contribution to the development of the party over the years, and called on delegates to consider him for the position of the national chairman.
Mr. Karbo, who said he has had working experience with Mr. Oware during his time as the National Youth Organizer, said the party would not have any affable, humble, open minded and experienced chairman than Mr. Fred Oware, stressing that the chances of the party would be better enhanced if Mr. Oware secures the mandate of the delegates.
Look my brother, there are certain persons in this world when you see them you begin to have love for them; their appearance, they way they talk, how they will approach you, you just cant help but listen to them, such is the personality of Mr. Fred Oware, Mr. Karbo noted.
According to him, the leadership qualities of Mr. Oware are unmatched, adding that he made the decision to support him and endorse his candidature after careful assessment of the strength, weaknesses, threats and opportunity at the disposal of the party vis-a-vis its opponents in the upcoming 2016 elections.
Mr. Karbo indicated that he was very much aware of the role Mr. Oware played during the 2012 general elections, combing the length and breadth of this country campaigning, aside the huge financial contributions he made to the party.
The former National Youth Organizer of the NPP said the youth, the old and all character of persons will feel comfortable working with Mr. Fred Oware at the helm of affairs.
On his part, Mr. Eugene Antwi, a hard spoken National Council mber said he could not help but throw his support behind Mr. Oware, having assessed the qualities and capabilities of all the candidates.
While admitting that the party was endowed with lots of capable leaders, he said Mr. Oware stands as humble, affable and charismatic, and would be a great asset to the party.
The NPP goes to congress on April 12, 2014, in Tamale, in what has been described as one of the keenly contested delegates conferences in the history of the party.
The National Chairmanship and the General Secretary positions are still cliffhangers, with all the candidates enjoying popularities in their own right.
Mr. Oware, a former first vice National chairman is competing with three other candidates; namely Mr. Stephen Ntim, Mr. Paul Afoko and Mr. Jake Obetsebi Lamptey.
