Contrary to news making rounds that deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress in charge of Administration, Mr. Kofi Adams, will not seek re-election, the Rawlings’ spokesperson has said he will only make his political future known when the party formally opens nominations expected later this year.

Media reports suggests Kofi Adams in the coming days will be smiling to take up the post of deputy minister at the Communications Minister which became vacant following the dismissal of Madam Victoria Hammah earlier this year.

But even before this development, there have been speculations that the once suspended deputy General Secretary will not seek reelection in anticipation of his new ministerial job.

Others have also posited that Kofi Adams’ decision to accept the ministerial post has to do with his conviction that Koku Anyidoho will perfectly fit a worthy replacer to his present deputy general secretary position.

But in an exclusive interview with The aL-hAJJ, Kofi Adams rebuffed the speculative news, explaining, he is yet to be informed of any ministerial appointment in the Mahama government.

While denying knowledge of the President’s plans to post him to the Communications Ministry, the Rawlings’ spokesperson stated that he will make his intensions known when the party opens nominations later this year by which time it would have concluded the nationwide biometric registration of its members.

“Not true. Have not been told of any appointment…I shall however; make my political decision when the party opens nomination. As at now and been incumbent, I must abide by and uphold the party’s constitution. I can’t make any declaration now,” the Rawlings’ spokesperson added.

Meanwhile, sources close to Kofi Adams’ colleague deputy General Secretary in charge of operations, George Lawson, told TheaL-hAJJ that the Methodist University College lecturer is battle ready to slug it out with any potential candidate interested in his post.

The ruling party is putting together a biometric data of its members to start the process of electing new officers from the branch to the national level. The biometric registration exercises is currently been piloted in the Western region.
An earlier time-table believed to have emanated from the deputy National Youth Organizer of the party, James Kofi Fonu, has pegged May ending as the date at which the party will conclude the nationwide exercise.

But some party stalwarts have argued that considering the snail pace at which the exercise, currently in Western regionwas moving it is likely the party will not meet the said deadline and that a new time-table may have to be drafted.

Despite the ‘uncertainties’ surrounding the NDC’s election process, various party members aiming to secure positions in the next election have begun shouldering themselves, with the Greater Accra regional Chairmanship race being the most ‘acrimonious’ so far.
