The Financial Court hearing the case of Alfred Agbesi Woyome, a businessman, has ordered him to open his defence in the 51.2-million-cedi judgment debt payment case.

A couple of weeks ago, the lawyers of Woyome, filed a submission of no case, on behalf of their client after the prosecution had closed its case.

The lawyers argued in their submission that, the prosecution throughout the trial, failed to establish any of the charges brought against the accused.

Justice John Ajet-Nassam, the trial judge, giving his ruling on the matter dismissed the application for submission of no case, and ordered the accused person to open his defence on Tuesday, May 6.

Woyome is standing trial for defrauding by false pretenses, and causing financial loss to the State. He has pleaded not guilty to the charges, and is on a 20-million-cedi bail with three sureties to be justified.
