Nana Addos Enemies Will Be Humiliated Sir John

Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie, has warned that any party member plotting the downfall of flagbearer hopeful, Nana Akufo-Addo will fail.

Mr. Afriyie, popularly known as Sir John, dispelled fears over reports that some executives are plotting to prevent Nana Addo from leading the party in the 2016 elections.

In an interview with Citi News, Sir John was optimistic that Nana Addos enemies will be humiliated at the end of the congress.

Bob Marley has this beautiful song that whoever digs a pit shall fall in it and shall be buried in it. So anybody in this party who attempts to dig a pit will fall in it so I think that that is very clear, he said.

According to him, any ardent follower of politics in Ghana is aware that the two-time presidential candidate of the NPP is the man of the moment.

Regarding the other six contestants vying for the flagbearership position of the party, Sir John alleged that during their campaigning, they have been appealing to the delegates to give them just one, one vote so that they will stay in.

He added that the six candidates know they will lose shamefully.

He said the infighting is just a teething problem which will be surmounted by the executives.

I believe it is too early in the day for any of us to start criticizing and looking into some lens and ascertain whether or not they [executives] are doing well or not, he remarked.

He advised that the party executives need not waste the partys limited time with internal wrangling.

He said it is crucial for them to get their acts together and channel their energies on taking over the governance of the country from the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

According to him, the government is messing up and only yesterday, Rawlings gave it to them and instead of this party latching onto that and hammering, we are fighting amongst ourselves as though we are fighting with women.

The former General Secretary was nonetheless hopeful that the executives will get over the internal problems to help the party present a united front during the 2016 electioneering period.

The party will hold a special delegates conference to cut down the number of flagbearer hopefuls from seven to five on Sunday, August 31.
