A former national vice chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the immediate past Minister of Education, Mr Lee Ocran, has pledged he will not let the party痴 grass roots feel deserted if elected once again to become the national vice chairman of the party.

He said he held that position from 2001-2006 at a time the party was in opposition and people were down-hearted and needed others to take over the party and revive the people痴 spirit.

的 have done it before and I will do it again, he told the Daily Graphic in an interview in Accra when he declared his intention to contest the vice-national chairmanship of the party this year.

Teamwork

He gave assurance that 鍍ogether we will find solutions to the problems confronting both the nation and party.

Mr Ocran, who was also a former Member of Parliament for the Jomoro Constituency in the Western Region, noted that the spirit of selflessness, hard work, enthusiasm and dynamism was waning in the ruling party.

He, therefore, called on the NDC delegates to vote for an executive members who would work together wirh others in a spirit of camaraderie and purposefulness.

典he NDC delegates must look out for people who are prepared to work, people seeking positions to work to address the cause of the party and nation. They should look out for the track record of people presenting themselves, he advised.

This way, Mr Ocran, the former High Commissioner to South Africa, said the party would get executive members who were prepared to work.

He said the NDC was a social democratic party so the leaders must be willing to sacrifice and show by example that they were really interested in development.

Profile

He is flying on the wave of having chaired NDC痴 last three manifesto committees from 2004, 2008 and 2012.

Together with Professor Kwamena Ahwoi, he is credited to have authored the Social Democratic Agenda for Ghana, which is the philosophy of the NDC.

He was a deputy minister in the Third Republic; deputy minister under NDC 2; MP for Jomoro; National Vice for the NDC; High Commissioner to South Africa and immediate past Minister of Education. Currently, he is the board chairman of the Volta River Authority (VRA).
