Fred Agbenyo, a member of the ruling National Democratic Congress has ascribed the alleged malfeasance of the Commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice (CHRAJ), Ms. Lauretta Lamptey to the character of NPP's former Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.

According to Fred Agbenyo, Ms. Lauretta Lamptey apparently took a cue from the behaviour of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) former Chairman, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey because the latter also has been lodging in a government bungalow since the Kufour government ceded power to the ruling NDC.

Then Deputy Minister of Information and now Deputy Minister of Education, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa together with Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Communication, in the latter part of 2008 sued the Attorney-General, the Chairman of the Lands Commission and the Chief Registrar of Lands at the Lands Title Registry for allocating the government bungalow to Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey.

Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey was reported to have bought the property and has since been living in the government bungalow.

The Supreme Court, in 2012, by a majority decision, dismissed the bungalow case and ruled in favour of Mr. Obetsebi-Lamptey.

The CHRAJ Commissioner is alleged to be involved in misappropriation of State property and funds.

She was reported to have spent an exorbitant amount of the Commission’s scarce resources on an expensive rent apartment at the African Union Village and hotel bills while failing to effectively discharge her duties.

Speaking on Peace FMs "Kokrokoo", Fred Agbenyo condemned the behaviour of the CHRAJ Boss but was quick to add that her attitude does not differ from the conduct of the NPP former Chairman.

According to him, Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey decided to remain in a government property which defies the norm and so, assessing both characters; he charged government officials to exhibit the spirit of patriotism.

He however slammed Ms. Lamptey for spending huge sums of money on her accommodation alone, stating categorically that Ms. Lamptey has dragged the image of the Commission through mud.

He also questioned the leadership abilities of Ms. Lamptey, saying "it must be condemned by all. It’s unacceptable. Let us investigate this issue…I think the woman didn’t bring leadership to bear on the Commission. She has dragged the entire image and name of the Commission into disrepute.

“The unpatriotic behaviour of the woman is a cue the woman has taken from Jake Obetsebi-Lamptey.”

He also appealed to the appropriate authorities to investigate the issue.
