The detection of some serious glitches in the electoral exercise in the Ada East constituency has resulted in a deferment of the constituency’s conference which was slated for today, Friday 19th September 2014.

A petition presented to the Greater Accra leadership of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) last Tuesday prompted an investigation into the exercise and subsequent dissolution of the elections.

The anomalies pointed out in the petition ranged from notification of different signatures by same person and an allege influence by their Member of Parliament (MP), comfort Doyoe Ghansah for nomination forms to be accepted after official close of submission date.

The petitioners again stated that some people who filed to contest for some constituency positions were never executives at the branch level. A reason they gave as disqualifies them from contesting any position at the constituency level as stipulated by the party’s constitution.

They also accused the MP for allegedly intimating and suppressing one Debrah Darlington as well as Terkper Eric Dugbatey from withdrawing from the race when they planned to contest the position of Deputy organiser and executive member.

However, in an interview with The New Crusading GUIDE yesterday, the Greater Accra Regional Treasurer of NDC, Alhaji Yahaya Kundow, in the midst of the Regional Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker and some other executives confirmed the suspension of the elections, adding that the anomalies that came out of their investigations were too much to be overlooked.

Though he noted that different signatures appeared on the nomination forms, the treasurer indicated that elections could still have gone if the other anomalies were anything to go by, “because they thumb printed on the bio data and that was the important thing”.

Alhaji’s disgust was about some endorsement of forms which was supposed to have been done by top party executives when the endorsees knew nothing about what it was said they had done.

He therefore placed it on record that elections at Ada would be on hold until all elections in the Greater Accra are done with- something he said may take two weeks.

He also said when nominations are opened 3 executives from Accra would supervise the nomination, filing and other procedures in order not to repeat the irregularities.

The Treasurer expressed dissatisfaction at an earlier information that one person was sacked from the party and another suspended because they allegedly caused the anomalies.

He however stressed that there was no tension in Ada East NDC but political euphoria which was normal everywhere when elections is due.

Alhaji Kundow therefore, admonished all and sundry to exercise patience for election is a family contest and thus they needed everyone on board to build the party to achieve greater heights.
