The Dzodze Police in the Volta Region have arrested the son of the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Akatsi South, Samuel Wuadi, for allegedly belonging to a group of hardcore criminals who operate in Akatsi, Dzodze and Aflao.

Mawunya Wuadi, 21, according to information The Finder gathered from a source at Akatsi, was allegedly mentioned by three robbers who were arrested by the Akatsi South and Dzodze police patrol team as an accomplice and one who sells their stolen goods.

The three robbers, according to The Finder's source, were arrested Wednesday night on the Dzodze-Akatsi highway when they were returning from a robbery expedition at Dzodze.

During interrogation, they allegedly mentioned Mawunya Wuadi, son of Mr Samuel Wuadi, DCE for Akatsi South, as a syndicate member and one who sells their loots.

Following the revelation, the Dzodze Police communicated to their Akatsi counterparts, who picked up Mawunya, alias Miami, on September 25.

The Akatsi Police quickly transferred the suspect to Dzodze.

During interrogation, Mawunya Wuadi named some persons he sold the stolen goods to in Akatsi and Dzodze, and the police in both areas, according to information, were able to arrest some of the buyers.

When contacted on phone, the Akatsi South District Commander, Mr Fiakpui, confirmed that Mawunya Wuadi, the son of DCE of the area, is in the custody of the Dzodze Police as a suspect after his name was mentioned by some Dzodze criminal syndicates who operate mostly in Dzodze and Akatsi.

The Akatsi South Police boss declined further comment on the matter as, according to him, investigations into the suspects' activities are ongoing.

Speaking with Mr Ziga, who is the Dzodze Police Commander, via phone, he said he was not at post and so could not speak on the arrest of Mawunya Wuadi.

Meanwhile, a security man at a filling station at Agbedrafor Junction in the Akatsi South District was shot dead by some armed robbers in the wee hours of last Saturday.

The robbers, according to The Finder's Akatsi South source, fled the scene without any loot from the filling station because the area's police responded in time.
