I urge our MPs to put Ghana's sovereignty and our farmers' welfare above any other consideration while debating the Plant Breeders Bill that is coming up for consideration this week.
Our legislators must delete Clause 23 to ensure that plant breeders who could be foreign corporations or their agents are not above our national laws.
We need to protect our farmers by including anti-monopoly provisions within the bill to make sure that our farmers are the first breeders.
The whole nation is looking up to our parliamentarians to resist all pressure and safeguard our collective interest.
