Retired Diplomat K.B Asante says the existence of the council of state is not “very necessary”.
The statesman who was speaking on Kumasi based Kapital radio opined that the Council of state had become a “ceremonial institution”.
“I cannot lay my hands on any initiative of the council of State to make me sure that it is a necessary institution”.
He doubts that a lot of the decisions that are supposed to be made in consultation with the Council the State are complied with.
Though he wouldn’t call for its abolishing, he advises that Ghanaians allow it to linger on whiles
more nagging issues are considered.
“Let us allow it to wither away gradually whilst we deal with the nagging issues confronting this
country”, he suggested.
