The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential Candidate for 2016, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has wished the 268,771 Senior High School students who are sitting for the West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE) the very best of luck.

According to him, it is his hope that the students do themselves justice in the ongoing examination despite the difficulties they had in the preparations toward the taking of this all-important exam as a result of the erratic nature of power supply facing the country for the past 3 years.

On his Facebook Wall, Nana Akufo-Addo wrote that he congratulates the students for not offering any excuses for their inability to study but rather have had to employ unconventional measures to enable them study ahead of this exam.

He again wrote on his Facebook Wall that the government should heed the request by some heads of Senior High Schools to reprieve the schools from the ongoing load shedding exercise during the period of the examination so that the students are not deprived of vital learning hours due to “dumsor dumsor”.

Below Is The Full Message on Nana Akufo-Addo’s Facebook Wall:

This is to wish the 268,771 Senior High School students who are sitting for the West African Senior Schools Certificate Examination (WASSCE) the very best of luck, and hope that they do themselves justice.

Preparations towards the taking of this all-important exam have been rocky, as a result of the erratic nature of power supply facing our country these last 3½ years. The students have not found it convenient to offer any excuses for their inability to study, but, rather, have had to employ unconventional measures to enable them study. I congratulate them for that.

To this end, I add my voice to calls being made by some heads of Senior High Schools asking for a reprieve from the ongoing load shedding exercise during the period of the examination. I urge government to heed this request and do all it can to ensure students are not deprived of vital learning hours due to "dumsor dumsor".

Throughout my public life, I have repeatedly stated that education is the best way by which we can dramatically change the fortunes of our country and join the group of developed nations. A society that aims to transform itself into a modern productive player in the global market, as we in Ghana must seek to do, can only do so with education and skills training of its young people. Quality, accessible education is the key to Ghana’s future and I am asking our students to seize the key with both hands and open the door to their own and Ghana’s bright future.

Good luck! God bless!

……signed……

Nana Akufo-Addo
2016 NPP Presidential Candidate
