Former General Secretary of the largest opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawyer Kwadwo Owusu Afriyie has waded into the brouhaha surrounding the vetting of Deputy Minister designate for Natural Resources, Mr. Kwabena Minta-Akandoh as the latter mentioned his Dining Hall Prefect post he held in school as the only serious work experience he has under his belt when he appeared before the Appointment’s Committee of Parliament last Tuesday.

In an interview to elicit his views on the latest Ministerial appointments, the former General Secretary  told The New Crusading GUIDE that its rather sad that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government does not consider competence and proven track record as a key factor in their considerations or selection of whoever they put at whatever position in government.

The Former NPP Chief Scribe who is also popularly referred to as Sir John noted that some of these avoidable lapses on the part of the President whom he(Sir John) believes has his own chronic challenges with regards to competence are the main reasons why Ghana is where it is today…“deeply buried in economic quagmire.”

He said, “what more can one expect from such incompetent and inexperience hands when the President himself has lost grip of the reins and only relying on the inexperience young men whom he is putting  in critical government positions to push his directionless agenda with propaganda.”

Sir John intimated that “the real truth behind the government’s woes today is purely lack of quality and competent personnel but you can’t blame them also because  their reserve is depleted and some few matured hands around too are either sitting on the fence or they have been purposefully maligned.”

He said, so far one cannot boast of any substantial achievement by any of these young and inexperienced deputy Minister’s since they came into government apart from their constant paneling on radio talk shows and their ‘loose-talk-scandals’  that has been making waves every now and then.

The former NPP General Secretary, also ceased the opportunity to admonished Ghanaians to get rid of what he described in unambiguous terms as the worst and incompetent government ever come election 2016 to make way for ‘‘the vibrant and productive NPP’’ for real growth and development.
