Mr Adam Mahama Akalbila, Upper East Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has called on Ghanaians to examine what he termed “the present economic difficulty” before casting their votes for Election 2016.

Speaking to journalists in Bolgatanga at the weekend, he indicated that the present condition of the economy is unbearable for many Ghanaians.

He alleged that the pro-poor intervention programmes such as the School Feeding Programme, National Health Insurance Scheme, National Youth Employment Programme among others that were introduced by the NPP Government to help improve the livelihoods of Ghanaians have been left to collapse.

The Regional Chairman said it is only the NPP Party that could salvage Ghanaians from the present economic predicaments, and appealed to the people in the Region and all Ghanaians to vote the party back to power in 2016.

Mr Akalbila expressed concern about the unemployment among the teaming youth and gave the assurance that if the NPP wins the 2016 election, more jobs would be created for the youth.

On the Parliamentary seat in the region, the Regional Chairman said he is optimistic that the party would capture eight out of the fifteen seats, stressing: “We are working vigorously to ensure that we achieve that result.”

He said all those who had filed for the primaries had started campaigning seriously and gave the assurance that everything would be done possibly to ensure that very quality and marketable candidates are voted to contest for the parliamentary seats.

Mr Akalbila, who commended the efforts of the Regional and Constituency Executives for their commitment and dedication, urged them to continue with the spirit to ensure victory for the party.

Meanwhile the Regional Chairman who was accused of supporting some of the candidates who had filed to contest for the party’s primaries refuted the allegation and said what is very important is for the party to get the right calibre of candidates who could win the parliament seats.

He appealed to all the candidates who had filed for the primaries to put the party interest first and to support the winnable candidates.

He also appealed to all party supporters and sympathisers to canvas for more votes for the party in the impending election.
