Sampson Ahi, the deputy minister for Works and Housing says the ruling National Democratic Congress [NDC] will not in any way use as advantage the New Patriotic Party (NPP’s) internal strife as a campaign tool against the opposition party in the 2016 elections.

Praying that the opposition resolves its internal matters amicably before 2016, he said “We [NDC} shall not ride on the back of NPP’s factions and divisions to regain the confidence of Ghanaians”.

Speaking on Atinka FM, the NDC legislator expressed optimism that Ghanaians will retain President John Dramni Mahama despite the challenges faced by the administration.

The Mahama-led government will win power in 2016 based on merit. We shall solve the major problems in the country and fulfil all our campaign promises to the good people of Ghana,” he assured.

He admitted that the ruling party is saddened by the "unfortunate happenings in the NPP", since it has security implications for the nation.

There is always the need for a stronger opposition in any democratic dispensation. The NDC is very sad that unfortunate things are happening in the NPP. The development poses a threat to national security. It is our wish that calm is restored in the party. We are not relying on the confusion in the NPP to win power,” he said.
