Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Ade Coker has urged leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to concentrate on how to make the country a better place rather than complaining about Ghana's voter register.

Speaking on the back of the NPP’s call on the Electoral Commission (EC) for a new voters’ register, Mr. Coker insists the leadership of the largest opposition party is making "frivolous and vexatious" arguments.

“We need peace of mind to develop the country and so the NPP should stop concentrating on a new voters register. If you claim there are errors in our voter’s register, why don’t you bring them and interrogate them?

“Channel your grievances to the proper institutions and stop subjecting us to fight” he asserted.

The NPP on Tuesday called for the replacement of the 2012 voters’ register, alleging that over 76, 286 people with same names and pictures are in the voters’ registers of both Ghana and Togo.

Presenting what he termed “a damning revelation” which should trigger the need for a new voters’ register in Ghana before the 2016 elections, the vice presidential candidate of the NPP Dr Mahamudu Bawumia said the uncovering of these foreign nationals in the register happened after just “10% of the search.”

The ruling party has however rubbished it, describing the allegations as “falsehoods, incompetence, mediocrity, fraud, frivolous concoctions, lies and fabrications.”

Ade Coker on Adom FM’s morning show ‘Dwaso Nsem’ Friday advised the NPP not to redirect the focus of the nation by "throwing dust into the public’s eyes."

“There are a lot of things that we must do. Let’s focus on how to build our economy. That’s important; how to sustain this country. This is important but not this kind of frivolous and vexatious allegation” he lamented.
