General Secretary of the People's National Convention (PNC), Bernard Mornah, has commiserated with the family of Ghanaian Times reporter, Samuel Nuamah who passed away in fatal accident on the Afienya-Dawhenya road when returning from an official assignment.

Speaking on Peace FM's "Kokrokoo", Bernard Mornah urged the deceased family not to lose hope.

Mr. Mornah, commenting on the presidential press corps' accident, further called on the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) and the Presidency to establish a fund to take care of the victims of the accident.

Scores of journalists were involved in a fatal accident yesterday when heading to Accra from Volta Region where President John Mahama attended an annual convention of the EP Church.

Ghanaian Times reporter, Samuel Nuamah, passed away while other victims are battling for lives at the 37 hospital.

Speaking to host Kwami Sefa Kayi, Mr. Mornah acknowledged the immense contribution of media practitioners to nation building and therefore advised the President to ensure that the press corps are secured.

“It's obvious that the media on a balance has played a very essential role in bringing our democracy to where we are now…I want to know whether for instance the Ghana Journalists Association has a fund for victims in circumstances like this. It’s important to know whether there’s a presidential press corps and whether there’s a welfare fund to do this. I think that individually we can our individual contributions to such a fund if it is established because journalists have risked their lives.”
