THE RULING National Democratic Congress (NDC) has conducted a series of secret investigations into the political life of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, aimed at indicting the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for corruption.

Nana Akufo-Addo, who made the disclosure, maintained that six forensic audits had been done about him by the NDC administration since the NPP left political office in 2009, but no corruption evidence had been found against him so far.

According to the NPP presidential candidate, the NDC did the forensic audits at the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs, where he worked as a minister when the NPP was in power from 2001 to 2009.

“I have been told that six forensic audits were done by the NDC government in my absence at the Ministries of Justice and Foreign Affairs ever since the NPP left political office in 2009,” Nana Addo told Ampratwum of Otec FM in Kumasi during an interview.

He indicated that all the efforts by the NDC to charge him for corruption proved futile because he had never indulged in corrupt practices throughout his political and private life.

Nana Akufo-Addo stated emphatically that he is not into politics to amass wealth or scramble for money, indicating that working to improve the lives of the masses is the prime motivation of his entering into politics.

According to him, he would have stayed in the private sector instead of entering into politics if his motivation had been to make more money, reiterating that he is incorruptible and his track record clearly shows it.

Rich Background

Nana Akufo-Addo flatly debunked reports that he was raised from an affluent family and so he doesn’t know how it feels to be poor. He said he understands how the feeling of poverty is like and so a government under him could halt poverty in the country.

Hardship

He lambasted President Mahama and the NDC government for failing the country by implementing unproductive programmes and policies which had made poverty and hardship the order of the day.

Nana Addo stressed the need for Ghanaians to vote massively for the NPP in 2016 so that he and his other compatriots could help fix the ailing economy, stop the spread of poverty and restore Ghana to the path of prosperity.

Insults

The NPP leader condemned the upsurge in politics of insults, noting that insults are not what Ghanaians need from politicians. He said what the citizenry need is message of hope and better policies to end their troubles.

He admonished politicians, especially the up-and-coming ones, to do away with insults and insinuations, while stressing the need for them to always focus on what they could contribute to develop the country.

Old Age

Nana Akufo-Addo said his advanced age favours him to become the suitable president for Ghana. He observed that countries in West Africa like Cote D’Ivoire, Nigeria and Liberia, whose leaders are old, are developing rapidly.

Voter Register

He emphasized that Ghana’s current bloated register should be replaced with a credible one, explaining that the NPP is not calling for a voter register that would favour it “but a register that will ensure free and fair polls for all political parties.”
