Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Brong Ahafo Region might not go to the polls on November 7 to elect parliamentary candidates for the 2016 general elections.

This is because a parliamentary aspirant from the Tano North Constituency, Albert Appiah Boateng, who was disqualified by the Regional and National Vetting Committee of the NDC has filed a writ at the Sunyani High Court against the NDC per the National Chairman, Regional Chairman and Tano North Constituency chairman restraining them from conducting the 7 November parliamentary primaries until determination of the case by the court.

The defendants have eight days from the date of issue of the summons, 26th October, 2015 to cause appearance to be entered.

In a statement of claim by the plaintiff, Albert Appiah Boateng prayed the High court to declare null and void the vetting in 29 constituencies of the Brong Ahafo region, especially at Tano North Constituency since the purported vetting was done by some national officers of the first defendant instead of the 3rd defendant, Tano North Constituency Chairman with the supervision of the 2nd respondent.

The plaintiff also prayed the court to compel the first defendant to endorse the candidature of the plaintiff since the National chairman’s conduct clearly breached and violated the NDC’s constitution.

The complainant also prayed the court to compel the defendants to retract defamatory statement that he (Albert Appiah Boateng) is using fake university degree certificate.

He also asked the court for an interlocutory injunction to restrain the defendants, their agents, privies workmen, labourers and others from participating in the parliamentary primaries slated for 7th November, 2015.

Information gathered by Daily Guide indicates that the NDC’s parliamentary primaries may be postponed to 21st November 2015.
