Davies Opoku Ansah, a special assistant to the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyepong, has rejected accusations that he mobilised protesters to the party’s head office on Thursday to agitate against the suspension of Mr Paul Afoko.

Hundreds of NPP members tagged as Afoko supporters thronged the party's headquarters in Accra with various placards demanding that the National Chairman be reinstated.

Speaking in an interview Thursday, with Kwami Sefa Kayi, the Deputy Communications Director of the party, Perry Okudjeto accused Davies Opoku Ansah, popularly known as OPK of mobilising the protesters.

According to him, he saw images of OPK standing by one of the buses conveying the demonstrators to the party's headquarters from various regions in the country.

However, OPK debunked the claims explaining that he "was only called to meet with them at Achimota Mile -7 in Accra".

“I passed by just to say hi to constituency officers who came from all over the country. Our party office is there for everyone and you don’t need to call before going there...they just called me to meet with them but I am not part of the organisers,” he told Kwami Sefa Kayi.

“These are constituency officers of our party, front line soldiers…these are people who have come from across the country to express themselves and to petition the party and make their grievances known to the party leadership. And I think we need to give them that kind of respect. My brother Perry instead of accusing me, should have come to Mile-7 to meet with these people and listen to what they have to say...these are people who have the party at heart and I believe their views must also be heard" he added.
