Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Ejisu Juaben constituency in the Ashanti region have invoked the dreaded Antoa Nyama deity on anyone including President John Mahama who confirms the appointment of Kweku Afrifa Yamoah Ponko as Municipal Chief Executive.

The agitated party members could not fathom the fixation by the President to impose the former MCE on them.

In their opinion, Yamoah Ponko has lost the support of the party and the people of Ejisu Juabeng due to his arrogance and abysmal performance whiles in office.

Amid chants, they purchased a bottle of schnapp from a nearby shop and proceeded to invoke the wrath of all river deities in the municipality and Antoa to curse anyone including President Mahama who confirms him into office.

After invoking the curse, one aggrieved old woman told Luv News the President should not count on their support in Yamoah Ponko comes back to post

They also said President Mahama will have to choose between their allegiance and Yamoah Ponkoh if he proceeds to confirm him.

In support, NDC constituency chairman for Ejisu Juaben, Eugene Agyarko noted that the party’s dream of getting a million votes in Ashanti will not materialize if Yamoah Ponkoh becomes MCE.

He accused the Local Government Minister, Collins Dauda of accepting a bribe from Yamoah Ponko to bring him back.

Mr. Agyarko called on the president to as a matter of urgency reconsider his stance and withdraw the appointment of Ponkoh.
