Member of the New Patriotic Party's Communications Team, Abu Jinapor has asserted that the energy sector was better off up until the inception of the current administration.

He indicts the Mahama government for worsening the energy situation and further overburdening the country's citizenry.

Energy consumers in the country have had to battle with what has become a household term "dum sor" over years now.

The power cuts - dum sor - have lingered on and on and there appears to be little or no solution to the problem.

In an attempt to resolve the energy crises, government informed the nation about the introduction of a power barge to augment the supply of electricity across the country.

The power barge from Turkey arrived in Ghana on Saturday and is expected to produce 225 megawatts of electricity.

Despite the arrival of the power barge, the Power Ministry has indicated that the erratic power supply may not be entirely solved since the barge also comes with additional cost.

Consumers are however urged to pay for the cost of the power barge which will start functioning early next year.

Speaking on Peace FM's Kokrokoo, Abu Jinapor admonished the government to stop making propaganda about the power barge.

He noted that the barge is not the solution to the problem but rather government lacks the financial means to improve the energy sector.

To him, the time for President Mahama to campaign is not now since Ghana is still saddled with erratic power supply.

There must be time for politics. There must be time for campaign and there must be time for work. There must be time for governance. There must be time when government officials have to fold up their sleeves and work, and stop the propaganda…
