Mr. Ben Ohene Ayeh, nominated by the President as Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Nsawam-Adoagyiri, has failed to receive the approval of the assembly.
Twenty-seven (27) out of the 42 members, voted to back him, while the remaining 15 said they opposed his nomination.
This was in an election supervised by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Mr. Ayeh, having failed to secure the two-thirds majority votes required by the law would have another chance on January 3, to win over those in opposition.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr Antwi-Boasiako Sekyere, who was on hand to witness the election, appealed to the assembly to give the nominee the nod, come the next round of voting.
He spoke of the need for unity and team work and said that was the path to travel to bring development to the people.
