Government has officially responded to claims made by Dr Anthony Akoto Osei that the dreadful state of Ghana’s economy is as a result of the ill feelings between the outgoing Bank of Ghana governor Dr Henry Kofi Wampah and Vice President Paa Kwesi Bekoe Amissah-Arthur.

The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Dr. Akoto Osei also alleged one factor which contributed to the premature resignation of Dr Wampah as head of Ghana’s central bank, was as a result of his failure to bury his differences with the Vice President.

But a statement from Mr. James Agyenim-Boateng, a Presidential Staffer, has refuted the claims by Dr. Akoto Osei. Mr. Agyenim-Boateng explained that till date, Mr. Amissah-Arthur and the Governor of the Central Bank have enjoyed a very fruitful and cherished relationship.

Below is a copy of the statement

RE:  WAMPAH, AMISSAH-ARTHUR BAD BLOOD STIFLED ECONOMY – AKOTO OSEI

The attention of His Excellency the Vice President, Mr K. B. Amissah-Arthur, has been drawn to online news publications claiming that there is bad blood between him and the outgoing Governor of the Central Bank.

The report attributed to the Member of Parliament for Old Tafo, Hon. Dr Akoto Osei, is false baseless and without merit. The reported bad blood is a figment of the fertile imagination of the person makingthe allegation and it should be treated with the contempt it deserves.

From his days as the Governor of the Central Bank till date, Mr Amissah-Arthur has had very fruitful and cherished relations with Dr Wampah.

The Vice President wishes to seize the opportunity to wish Dr Wampah well as he leaves the Bank of Ghana as Governor.
