The National Democratic Congress (NDC) Parliamentary Candidate for the Ningo Prampram Constituency, Sam George has admitted begging the acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council, Nene Karnor Atiapah III.

According to him, his apology was based on the fact that he didn’t seek for the chief side of the publication done by the Daily Guide before granting radio interview to comment on the supposed accusations levelled against President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC government.

According to the Accra daily, the troubles of the NDC parliamentary candidate for Ningo-Prampram Constituency in the Greater Accra Region over his ‘unsavoury comment’ against the Acting President of the Ningo Traditional Council, Nene Karnor Atiapah III, are not yet over.

The Daily Guide claims a sheep and two bottles of whisky he sent to the chiefs with intent to appease them were rejected. He was rather asked to personally go public on radio to retract the ‘offensive comment’ before coming to the traditional rulers.

"Sam George, a presidential staffer and communication specialist to President John Mahama, on a radio station in Accra, described Nene Atiapah, who doubles as Mankralo of the Ningo Traditional Area, as a ‘lawless’ person for expressing his (chief’s) view on killer electricity tariffs," the newspaper published in its Monday edition.

He said the chief’s “view doesn’t represent that of the people in the area.”

The presidential staffer pleaded for several hours with the chiefs and elders of the council to cut down the fine of seven sheep to one when he sent one ram to them through some close friends and party sympathisers.

But reacting to Daily Guide's Monday edition, Sam George Nartey on Okay FM’s 'Ade Akye Abia' Morning Show without admitting kneeling down to apologise rather averred he visited Nene Atiapah to apologise in an NDC branded shirt and not in the attire shown by the Daily Guide newspaper.

To him, he is only focused on making President Mahama and NDC win massively at Ningo Prampram constituency.

When I visited the Nene Atiapah, I was in an NDC branded shirt and not in the attire shown by the Daily Guide newspaper and besides, we don’t use microphone to speak to the chief in the palace; are we embarking on a rally at the palace?... I never insulted the chief and even before Nene Atiapah, I repeated that I never insulted him but I apologised to him for not seeking his side of the story before commenting on it on radio”, he admitted.

He however alleged that the opposition New Patriotic Party is behind the media gimmicks propagated by the Daily Guide; assuring the opposition that such gimmicks won’t win votes.
