55 Honoured

The NDC last week Friday conferred special honours on 55 founder members of the party for their immense contribution towards the growth of the party.

The occasion was to mark the 24th anniversary of the party at its headquarters in Accra.

The event was attended by party stalwarts, including the founder, former President Rawlings, the sitting President and Leader of the party, President John Dramani Mahama, Chairman, Mr Kofi Portuphy, the General Secretary, Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketiah and Alhaji Huudu Yahaya.

The awards, made up of cash prizes and citations, were given in categories of posthumous and surviving members.

Mr Bagbin said former President Rawlings sounded prophetic when he declared that the 1981 coup was going to be the last one and its transitional Provisional National Defence Council (PNDC) as a process which would transform the country’s governance to a functional and sustainable democracy.
