Mr Luke Atazona, Deputy Chief Executive Officer in-charge of Operations of Youth Employment Agency (YEA) said jobs created under YEA are not “jobs for the boys”.
He said they are a means of satisfying critical sectoral needs of the economy.
He said this when interacting with journalists in Tamale as part of his tour of Northern Region to acquaint himself with the operations of YEA.
Mr Atazona said those to be recruited under YEA were assessed to meet the required criteria to ensure that they deliver dispelling rumours that the recruitment was based on political party lines.
He said YEA is working hard to meet the government’s target of recruiting 100,000 youth into various job modules by the end of this fiscal year.
He said, moving forward, YEA would seek corporate bodies and individuals to present proposals on how to better solve the youth unemployment situation in the country.
Mr Rashid Tanko Computer, Regional Director of YEA said a number of youth in the region have been recruited under various models.
He said recruitment is still ongoing to place more qualified people into other approved job modules.
